I’ve been speaking to a number of people lately who are struggling to find where to head in life or find some meaning to what they are doing.
We all go through this at some point in our lives, often more than once!
What can happen is the more we struggle to “know” the more we doubt, get annoyed with ourselves and sometimes whinge “I wish I knew what my purpose is?“
This takes a lot of energy away from actually finding purpose and meaning.
There is a way forward and the “knowing” can emerge as we spend the time to contemplate as well as gather information.
Firstly it’s a good idea to take it easy on yourself and accept where you’re at. Stop beating yourself up and say to yourself “Yep I’m stuck right now that’s how it is, it’s one of those times and I will find a way through.” Its holding the idea of both the not knowing as well as the belief of finding a way through.
Secondly ask yourself “Do I have enough information to make this decision?” The likely answer is no. If that’s the case it might be you don’t need to struggle so much but find out more about whatever it is whether its career options or what you enjoy.
So for those of you who need some information here is a really useful exercise which I’ve done and found it really accurate. Discover Your Natural Gifts
Of course this will not be an end in it self, it will give some indication of your natural gifts and strengths and there will be further information for you to gather but its a start!
Next time I will talk about what else you can do to find your way forward.
