Curriculum Vitae – CV translates to “(the) course of (my) life”.

We use it as a tool to tell the course of our professional lives, but what to put in or leave out and how personal to make it?

Introducing Erin ChambersErin Chambers more than just writing your CV. I will guide you on how and where to gain visibility through face-to-face networking and using your LinkedIn profile appropriately.

Disclosure: I love writing CVs.

My career progression from medical laboratory work to recruitment via sales and small business ownership has seen me look at many CVs in a range of industries and I’ve learnt from all of them.

I would love to do your CV, to learn your story and to help you present the best possible version of yourself.

A couple of tips then:

  • Don’t tell lies, this should be obvious but…
  • It is quite OK to tailor your CV and cover letter for a specific role (note #1!)
  • You are selling yourself and in New Zealand we ‘buy’ from people we like and trust – not on price

I believe that anyone can write a half decent CV with the right guidance but what you really need though is a great CV!

None of us are very good at blowing our own horn, we all need someone else to do it. An article I read recently says that recruiters give initial screening of CVs six seconds of their time, six seconds!!!

Here in New Zealand, we like to buy from people that we know, like and trust.

When we apply for a position we are effectively selling ourselves and what we need to do in today’s highly competitive job market is to stand out from the crowd. Ideally we would like employers to be asking  for your CV not sending it off into cyberspace never to be seen again.

So I offer more than just writing your CV. I will guide you on how and where to gain visibility through face-to-face networking and using your LinkedIn profile appropriately.

Let’s make the most of your next six seconds.
