I started watching the news one night last week and the first four articles were all doom and gloom. All horrible things happening in the world to people. I had to walk away from it. I know it’s good to be informed but sometimes I just can’t take the sadness and tragedy that happens in our world.
This brought me to gratitude and kindness. Kindness is such an undervalued attitude I think. Stopping at a road side stall recently I bought a bag of nectarines and the lovely man put in an extra one and made sure I had the biggest bag of apples. I had a smile on my face for an hour. A lovely gesture.
You know it really doesn’t take much to be kind to others. But maybe the first place to start is ourselves. Difficult to give to others unless we have some consideration and empathy for ourselves. Sometimes we really do beat our selves up, say negative things to ourselves when all we really need to do is reassure or compliment ourselves. Then it’s so much easier to do this for others. So think about an act of kindness you can do today for yourself and for someone else. Happy New Year. 🙂
