Winter is such a hunkering down time. A delicious time to stay in doors in front of the fire or heater, drinking nice wine and chatting or reading a good book. I think we really need to listen to ourselves sometimes and find out what we need. If we’ve just come through or going through a time of loss or grief, or needing to reflect on things our emotional and mental selves can say “enough – take time for you!” This might mean socialising less, reducing the giving to others for a time, not going where there are crowds and heading to peaceful places for walks. In our busy world it is so easy not to listen to ourselves. But it can be more stressful if we don’t. I find it amazing if I allow myself even a couple of hours of down time when I know I need it. I feel rejuvenated after ward and ready to get on with my life. The other thing I do is trying to do things I really enjoy. Go to an art gallery, listen to music or sit in the sunshine. I know it must be so much harder if you have children running around but get creative, if they go to school or daycare make sure you take this space for yourself – the washing can wait, you will probably enjoy managing the double lot of washing the next day than pushing yourself to do it today when you really need time for yourself. Take it easy it’s winter and time for yourself and those you love, you don’t have to rush and push all the time. And anyway who said you do?
Who Said You Do?
