All about MBTI® Assessments

What is the MBTI® Assessment?

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assessment is a comprehensive psychological test developed by Katherine Briggs and Elizabeth Myers (based on Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types).

It is not about skill, intelligence, ability or expertise. Its sole purpose is to explore your natural preferences (the way you do things) in order to ascertain your ‘personality type’.

How is it useful?

By understanding your personality type you can learn to appreciate the behaviour of others as well as yourself.

Clients find that discovering their MBTI® type is a liberating experience (rather than a restricting one), as it allows them to recognise their own natural bent and true potential, paving the way for happier relationships, more satisfying careers and positive future planning.

How does it work?

In a nutshell, the test consists of four sets of polar opposites (dealing with different parts of your make up). They are categorised as follows:

  • Extroversion - Introversion (where energy is directed)

  • Sensing - Intuition (how information is gathered)

  • Thinking - Feeling (how decisions are made)

  • Judging - Perceiving (organising oneself in the world)

You have to choose which four poles you prefer, and then depending on your selection you will fall into one of 16 possible personality types. (NB: these types are denoted by the four letters identifying the preferred poles).

Having established your personality type you will be given a detailed report outlining areas such as - what you enjoy, how you communicate, how you lead, learn and relax, your challenges, and more. You are asked to verify this result – after all you are the expert best qualified to judge the descriptions from the report.

How is MBTI® different to other personality tests?

This is an interactive learning session providing descriptions of the four building blocks of the MBTI assessment. There will be questions to check your understanding of these building blocks. Then an opportunity to choose your personality type and have it confirmed based on your responses to the assessment questions. Of course a person’s type can change. As you grow and develop you may cultivate different preferences depending on environment and learning opportunities. You may find it advantageous to take this tes on an on-going basis.

Is there a refund policy?

If you change your mind or make a mistake after you have taken the assessment, refunds cannot be made. However if you change your mind before you take the assessment, we will be happy to provide a refund.
